A decent quality wood, Wattle is a hardwood of medium high density.

It burns easily and produces large, welcoming flames in a fireplace  and braai coals that produce a steady heat,despite being quite small.
 
Great option to "Braai and go" as it burns to ash relatively fast compared to denser hardwoods, ensuring that there arent any stray coals hours after your braai with coals only lasting around 2-3 hours from flame out. 

As for cooking, it has a light, mellow flavor that wont overpower more delicate tastes such as seafood or vegetables when they are grilled.
